I’m throwing it back to last year when we photographed Glenda for her Boo-doir Session. She came into the studio feeling insecure because of her weight. When she booked her session, she told us, “I’m not even skin and bones. I’m just bones.” And she sobbed.
It was heartbreaking to hear this women talk so negatively about herself. Our mission was given. We would help her feel like the GORGEOUS vessel she is!
We used varying lighting, poses, camera angles and camera settings to photograph this Boo-doir session in the most flattering way!
The session started on a couple of sets that were of a neutral color. Unfortunately, due to her skin tone, it was not very flattering. While she is at a great angle and the lighting is perfect, she kind of just blended into the background like in the photograph below.
This is NOT a goal we have when posing our clients. We want YOU to be the focal point of your image.
So we tried another set with our small grey settee. This was a better fit because she was swallowed by the large furniture in the first photo. The small settee was a better size for her petite body. However, we still had the same issue of her simply blending into the photograph as you can see.
We FINALLY hit the jackpot when we put her up against one of our favorite studio sets. THE BLUE COUCH! Her skin tone looks absolutely GORGEOUS against this beautiful, cheap jewel-toned futon from Wayfair. Looks great but is NOT comfortable. So don’t lean your head back too fast. As you can see, she FINALLY started owning her session and literally fell into poses.
